In The Pink announces the opening of Marc Lagrange’s new solo exhibition, bringing to Loulé a selection of works that celebrates longing, intimacy, and the quiet strength of desire.

Known for his extraordinary command of light, texture, and atmosphere, Marc Lagrange’s photographs explore fantasies and dreams with a deeply human sensitivity, placing beauty at the very center of his visual universe.

Privileging the analog over the digital, the Belgian photographer, based in Antwerp, seeks emotion rather than artificial effects. His monumental Polaroids, exhibited  around the world, are celebrated not only for their scale and presence, but for the precision of his gaze: the way skin appears vivid and tactile; the way natural curves are rendered with elegance; and the way each image comes together as a complete, narrative whole.

Lagrange builds entire sets until he finds the exact mood he intends to convey. From the tone of the walls to the shape of a chair, every detail matters. Throughout his career, Marc Lagrange has repeatedly photographed the same women across different periods of time, turning them into muses and creative partners. Inge Van Bruystegem, an exceptional model and talented dancer, is one of these enduring presences.

The relationship cultivated over more than fifteen years translates into results that are both rare and remarkably alive: trust, spontaneity, and, at the same time, absolute intention. In Lagrange’s work, even when his models appear fully nude, the photographs do not seek passivity; they present women as protagonists, confident, self-possessed, and in control of their own mystery.

International recognition and prestigious collaborations have accompanied Lagrange’s trajectory. In 2012, Delvaux commissioned portraits of women of different generations, exploring their relationship with their handbags, an inquiry that gave rise to a distinct series, still evolving today. During the same period, Lagrange traveled to New York to photograph iconic women, further reinforcing his gift for capturing strength, charisma, and a timeless elegance.

Across exhibitions in Europe and the United States, as well as numerous published books, his work continues to unfold into ever richer visual universes, including Polarized (2009), Marc Lagrange XXML (2009), Diamonds and Pearls (2013), and Hotel Maritime – Room #58 (2014), a private edition limited to 300 copies.

This new presentation at In The Pink invites visitors to experience Lagrange’s world up close, where detail becomes narrative, and sensuality is conveyed with refinement, restraint, and emotional truth.
